"Articulation of voids in space respect the natural landscape"

The monuments foot is purposely set into the terrain and not rested above. The intention of this is to imitate tree trunks and roots that penetrate the soil.

Voids in the monument create a space in which plants may continue to grow. The composition of spaces that move around the plants indicate a high level of respect for the natural environment.

The monuments upper half rests on the terrain, creating a sense of fluidity between the natural and built environments.  In addition, thin rectilinear prisms are used for its construction so that building appears to be light and vibrant.
